LYNETTE'S SPICE APPLE CAKE 
This is way good!

1 box spice cake mix (see note)
2 to 3 eggs + vegetable oil (follow box instructions)
1 (21 oz.) can apple pie filling (Comstock)

TOPPING:

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1/4 cup evaporated milk (Carnation)
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 (14 oz.) bag coconut flakes (Baker's)

Note: May use a white cake mix with 1/2 teaspoon each of cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice mixed in.

Mix cake mix according to package instructions, put half in bottom of prepared pan. Spoon in little mounds of apple filling, spreading after, then spoon on the remaining cake batter. Spread evenly.

Bake according to package instructions.

Ten minutes before cake is done: In a bowl mix butter, milk, brown sugar and vanilla until well combined. Stir in coconut flakes.

When cake comes out, spread on the topping. Turn on the broiler to HIGH, place cake back in while keeping an eye on it for about 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown.

Remove, let cool and enjoy!
