DATE FILLED COOKIES 
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1 c. Crisco
3 eggs, beaten good
4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt

Mix sugars and Crisco together. Add beaten egg (mix good). Add vanilla and 4 cups flour with soda and salt in.

FILLING:

1 lb. dates, cut up
1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. water

Cook until thick and cool.

Bake in oven until light brown. Do not burn. 350 temperature.

Roll out cookie and put dates on half and turn other half over dates.
