DATE-FILLED DROP COOKIES 
1 c. cooking oil (or soft shortening)
2 c. brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1/2 c. sour milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3 1/4 c. flour

FILLING:

2 c. dates, cut sm.
3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. water

Mix oil, brown sugar and eggs; stir in milk and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients and mix. Set aside. Mix remaining ingredients for filling, cook until thick, stirring constantly. Cool. Drop cookie mixture by teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet. Drop 1/2 teaspoon filling on top of each spoonful of cookie dough.
