SHORTCAKE FOR STRAWBERRIES 
2 c. flour
2 tbsp. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1 beaten egg
2/3 c. milk

Sift dry ingredients. Cut in butter until coarse crumbs. Combine egg and milk. Add all at once. Stir until moistened. Spread into greased round cake pan, building up edge. Bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes.
