SILVER CAKE 
3 c. sugar
1 c. Crisco
6 egg whites
1/4 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. flavoring
5 c. cake flour

Beat the Crisco and sugar until very light and creamy. Add milk alternately with flour, in which the baking powder has been sifted in the last cup of flour. Beat thoroughly, then add the egg whites, which have been beaten stiff. Add flavoring. Bake about 1 hour in large tube pan or you make layers out of it.
