JULIE'S NEVER FAIL DILL PICKLES 
20-25 lg. or med. cucumbers

Soak in cold water to which 1/3 cup of hydrated lime has been added. Add 2 trays of ice cubes to make crisper. Soak cucumbers overnight. Next morning rinse, wipe dry and pack in sterilized jars to which have been added:

2 heads of dill
3 cloves of garlic
1 hot pepper
2 tbsp. whole mustard seed (white)
Dill, garlic, etc. goes in bottom of jars

In top of jars, put 1 tablespoons powdered alum. Bring to boil:

1 qt. white vinegar
3 qts. water
1 scant c. pickling salt

Pour over cucumbers in jars. Put a grape leaf in top of each jar and seal. Any solution left over may be kept for later use.
