ITALIAN MEAT SAUCE 
1 c. chopped onion
1 lb. ground beef
2 cloves garlic
3 cans stewed tomatoes
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1/4 c. snipped parsley
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 tsp. thyme
1 bay leaf
Hot, cooked spaghetti
Parmesan cheese

In large Dutch oven, combine meat, onion, and garlic. Cook until meat is brown and onion tender. Drain off fat. Add next 8 ingredients and 2 cups of water. Simmer, uncovered, 3 hours until sauce is thick. Remove bay leaf.
