MONTGOMERY PIE 
1/2 c. molasses
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. water
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 lemon, juice & rind

Combine above ingredients and pour into a 9-inch unbaked pie shell.

TOPPING:

2/3 c. sugar
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk
1 1/2 c. flour

Blend butter and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Add milk and the sifted dry ingredients a little at a time. Spread topping over the mixture already in the shell.

Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 40 minutes.
