2 c. water
1 c. salt
2 tbsp. oil
Food coloring
4 tsp. cream of tartar
2 c. flour

Heat water on low heat in a large saucepan (6-8 quart). Add salt and simmer until salt is completely dissolved. Add oil and food coloring. Mix flour and cream of tartar and add this mixture to the water. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon until mixture is smooth and a good consistency. A few lumps are okay as they can be kneaded out as the play dough cools. Serves 2 children.
