CARAMEL DUMPLINGS 
1/2 c. sugar
2 c. water
3/4 c. sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

BATTER:

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. sweet milk or cream
Pinch of salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla

Brown 1/2 cup sugar in iron skillet or pan. Add 2 cups sugar and cook until dissolved. Add 3/4 cup more sugar, 1 tablespoon butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla. Let the above simmer while preparing batter. Mix batter ingredients together, then add enough flour to make batter thick so it will drop by spoonful into liquid. Place in oven and bake until golden brown in 350 degree oven.
