BABOOTIE 
Stirring spoon Lg., heavy skillet 8 inch sq. pan, buttered Sm. bowl Wire whisk

Ingredients: 2 tsp. curry powder 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper 2 slices white bread, crumbled 2 lg. eggs, room temperature Fresh basil leaves (optional) 2 tbsp. butter 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 lb. lean ground beef 2 c. milk 1/2 c. raisins (optional)

Allow 30 minutes to prepare, 50-60 minutes to bake. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In the skillet, cook onion in butter over medium heat until light brown. Add curry powder (more if you like it spicier), 1 1/4 teaspoon salt, and cayenne pepper. Saute 2 to 3 minutes. Add beef. Saute until brown. Remove from heat and drain the fat.

Meanwhile soak crumbled bread in 1 1/2 cups milk. Stir into the beef mixture. Pour into the square pan. In the small bowl, beat the eggs with the remaining 1/2 cup milk and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Add raisins and pour over the beef mixture. Bake until the top is crisp and lightly browned. Serving: Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired. Serves 4.
