AMERICAN SUGAR COOKIES 
3 c. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 sticks butter
1 c. sugar

Sift together flour, baking powder and soda. Cut in butter as for pie crust. Beat eggs, add sugar and beat well. Blend egg and sugar mixture into flour mixture. Chill dough for easier handling. Roll out on floured pastry cloth or board to 1/4 inch thickness. Roll thicker for soft cookies, thinner for crisp cookies. Cut with cookie cutter and place on ungreased cookie sheets.

BUTTER FROSTING FOR COOKIES:

1 stick butter
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 to 4 tsp. cream

Blend until smooth. Decorate cooled cookies. The best ever sugar cookies. Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated 375 degree oven.
