EASY NO KNEAD BREAD | |
1 1/4 c. warm water 1 pkg. active dry yeast 2 tbsp. shortening 2 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. sugar 3 c. flour Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add shortening, salt, sugar and 1 1/2 cups flour. Beat with electric mixer for 2 minutes. Add rest of flour all at once and mix with wooden spoon or rubber spatula. Mix 1 or 2 minutes. Cover and let rise 320 minutes. Stir down (about 25 strokes). Form into loaf and put in greased loaf pan, let rise 40 minutes or until 1/4" from top of pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes. After removal from oven, brush top with melted butter if desired. butter: Only butter without milk or other animal products should be used in these recipes. Many diet and imitation butters are manufactured without milk or dairy by products. The use of a non-dairy creamer as a substitute for milk can be satisfactorily used in baking and cooking. When prepared into liquid form, it substitutes for milk in cereals or plain drinking. |
