DATE COOKIES 
FILLING:

1/2 lb. (1 pkg.) pitted dates, cut sm.
1 lg. can apricot halves, drained well
1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 tbsp. cold water

Cook until thick (burns easily). Cool and use for filling.

3/4 c. shortening (1/2 butter), melted
1 c. brown sugar
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. quick oats
