LENTEN PRETZELS 
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 1/2 c. warm water
1 tsp. sugar
4 to 5 c. flour
1 beaten egg
Coarse salt

Combine sugar, water and yeast. Add flour gradually, forming a fairly stiff ball of dough. Continue kneading for 10 minutes. Divide dough into 30 pieces (depending on size of pretzels desired). Roll each piece into a rope. Then shape the rope like a pretzel.

Place pretzels on a lightly greased baking sheet. Brush with egg and sprinkle with salt. Bake at 425 degrees for 12 to 14 minutes.
