Sliced apples
2/3 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
Pinch of salt
1 tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. milk
3 tbsp. baking powder
1 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla

NOTE: The large amount of baking powder is correct.

Grease an 8" square pan. Slice apples to cover the bottom. Mix together sugar, egg, salt, shortening, milk, baking powder, flour and vanilla. Pour over apples and bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees) until done. Serve warm with lemon sauce or whipped cream. Makes about 6 servings.
