CHERRY NUT CAKE 
1 3/4 c. sugar
1 c. butter
5 eggs
1 shot whiskey
1 tsp. hot water
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 (10 oz.) jar (drained) maraschino cherries
1 - 1 1/4 c. chopped walnuts

Grease and flour a 10" tube pan. Cream together sugar and butter. Add eggs, one at a time, beat well. Add whiskey, water, vanilla and flour; mix thoroughly. Fold in cherries (halved) and chopped nuts. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 to 1 1/4 hours. Test with a toothpick. Remove from pan and let cool. While slightly warm, sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
