MAPLE & DATE NUT BREAD | |
1 c. pitted, shredded dates 3/4 tsp. baking soda 1 c. boiling water 1 egg, well beaten 1/2 c. maple syrup 1 tsp. salt, if desired 1 c. pastry flour 1 c. whole wheat flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 c. chopped nuts 1 tbsp. cooking oil, Wesson or Mazola Add baking soda to the dates and boiling water. Let cool. Mix together egg, maple syrup and salt; add the dates with soda and water and fold in the two kinds of flour sifted with baking powder. Add nut meats and oil. Beat thoroughly; pour into greased bread pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 60 to 75 minutes. |
