BROCCOLI SALAD 
1 lg. bunch broccoli (approximately 2 lb.)
6 slices bacon
1 med. onion, chopped fine
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. mayonnaise
1/2 c. raisins (optional)
1/2 c. cashews, peanuts or sunflower seeds]
1 can sliced water chestnuts
2 tbsp. vinegar

Cut broccoli into flowerets and bite size pieces of tender part of stems, peeled. Fry bacon until crisp. Drain and crumble. Combine these: onion, nuts, raisins and water chestnuts in bowl. Add broccoli and bacon to the bowl. Combine mayonnaise, vinegar and sugar. Mix well and pour over salad. Chill and serve. Serves approximately 8 to 10.
