GERMAN APPLE CAKE PIE 
1/2 c. butter
1 egg
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. milk
1/2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
Pinch of salt

Cream butter and sugar well. Add egg. Mix in flour, baking powder and salt, alternately with milk. Spread in 2 well greased 9 inch pans. Spread with filling and cover with topping. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.

FILLING:

5 peeled and sliced apples
Grated rind of one lemon
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

For filling stew the apples, sugar and lemon rind until apples are tender. Spread on top of batter. Sprinkle with cinnamon.

TOPPING:

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar

For topping mix well and spread over apples.
