FLAKY POLISH BOW TIES | |
12 egg yolks 1/4 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. sugar 3 tbsp. sour cream 2 tbsp. whiskey or vodka 1 tsp. orange flavoring 2 tbsp. vinegar or lemon juice 1 c. flour to start 1 tsp. baking powder Mix ingredients in order, one by one with electric mixer on low speed. When dough gets thick, add 4 to 5 cups more flour by hand. Knead until dough is smooth and leaves your fingers cleans. Divide dough into 4 parts. Roll out very thin. Cut into 3"x1" strips. Slit center of each strip. Pull one end through slit and pull out to make a bow tie. Fry in hot melted Crisco until brown on each side. Cool on brown paper and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Makes about 12 dozen. |
