BRAN MUFFINS 
2 tbsp. baking soda
1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. butter, melted
3 eggs
4 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 1/2 c. sugar
3 c. buttermilk
2 tbsp. molasses
1 c. dates or raisins
1 c. nuts
3 c. bran

Dissolve baking soda in boiling water and set aside. Combine all of remaining ingredients and mix well. Add baking soda mixture, and mix well. Fill muffin tins that are greased 2/3 full and bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. These are wonderful and the batter may be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 days. Recipe makes about 30 muffins.
