Powdered sugar
Butter, about a heaping tbsp. to a lb. box of sugar
Dash of salt
Enough milk to make thick paste
1 tsp. vanilla for lb. box of sugar

Beat sugar, butter and salt together until well mixed. Add vanilla and the milk a little at a time, beating after reach addition, until sugar is entirely mixed and mixture is a thick paste.

Open dates to form cavity. Fill generously with filling, then roll each filled date in a saucer of granulated sugar.

About 1/2 box powdered sugar will make filling for 1 pound of dates.
