BARBARA'S BUTTER CAKE 
CAKE:

3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla

BUTTER SAUCE:

1 c. sugar
1/4 c. water
1/2 c. butter
1 tbsp. vanilla

Sift dry ingredients. Cream butter and sugar well. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Combine buttermilk and vanilla. Alternately add dry ingredients and buttermilk to creamed mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Pour into greased and floured 10 inch tube pan.

Bake at 325 degrees 60-65 minutes. While still in pan, pour hot butter sauce over cake, poking holes in cake with a skewer to allow sauce to seep in. After 15 minutes remove cake from pan.

Sauce: Combine sugar, water and butter and heat until butter melts. Add vanilla.
