1 cake yeast 1/4 c. lukewarm water 3/4 c. milk, scalded and cooled to lukewarm 4 c. flour 3/4 c. sugar 2 well-beaten eggs 1/2 c. shortening, melted and cooled 3/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 tsp. salt Soften yeast in lukewarm water. Combine with milk. Add half of flour and 2 tablespoons sugar. Beat until smooth. Cover and let rise in warm place for 1/2 hour. Stir in beaten eggs, shortening and remaining sugar, nutmeg and salt. Beat for 10-15 minutes or until bubbly on surface. Cover and let rise about an hour. Roll out, cut and fry. |
