MANDARIN ORANGE CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
2 (11 oz.) cans mandarin oranges
2 c. flour
2 eggs
2 tsp. baking soda

Mix ingredients together by hand. Beat with mixer for 3 minutes. Pour into well-greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

Bake at 325°F for 40 minutes.

Topping:

1 c. brown sugar
4 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. milk

Bring ingredients to a boil. Pour over warm, not hot, cake. Cool. Top with Cool Whip and refrigerate until 15 to 30 minutes before serving. Very good.
