ASPARAGUS-CHEESE CASSEROLE 
4 tbsp. butter
3 tbsp. flour
1 1/2 c. milk
1 pkg. Old English cheese
Salt
Pepper
1 jar asparagus spears, drained
1/2 c. slivered almonds
2/3 c. bread crumbs
1/4 c. melted butter

Melt 4 tablespoons butter in saucepan. Add flour and mix well. Add milk gradually. Stir and cook until thickened. Cut cheese into pieces and add to the sauce. Stir until cheese is melted. Flavor with salt and pepper. Combine 1/4 cup melted butter and bread crumbs; toss with fork. Place half of crumb mixture into bottom of casserole dish. Place asparagus spears on top of crumbs and sprinkle with almonds. Pour cheese over asparagus. Sprinkle remaining crumbs on top. Bake at 450 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
