2 tubes crescent rolls 1 med. onion, chopped 1 (2 cup) pkg. shredded Mozzarella cheese 1 (2 cup) pkg. shredded Cheddar cheese 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste 1 (32 oz.) jar Ragu spaghetti sauce Arrange 1 tube of rolls on buttered 9x13 pan -- do not pull apart. Sprinkle 1/2 package each of both cheeses over rolls. Brown meat and onions, drain off grease, add spaghetti sauce and tomato paste and heat in saucepan. Spread meat mixture over cheese layer. Arrange 2nd tube of rolls over meat mixture. Sprinkle remaining mixture of cheeses as topping. Bake at 350 for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Meat and sauce mixture can be made ahead of time and refrigerated, be sure it is heated thoroughly before putting it with the rolls and cheese -- otherwise the dough gets baked too soon and the meat remains cold in the middle! Serves 16 people. |
