LITTLE MAMA'S APPLESAUCE CAKE 
2 c. applesauce
2 tsp. baking soda
4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. maraschino cherries, chopped
1 sm. can crushed pineapple
1 pkg. chopped dates
1/2 pkg. white raisins

Combine applesauce and soda; let stand 30 minutes. Mix together dry ingredients and have ready. Mix butter, eggs and sugar with mixer until creamy. Add dry ingredients. Add applesauce, fruit and nuts; mix well by hand. Bake in tube pan and 2 loaf pans for 3 hours at 250 degrees. Let cool and store in cool place or freezer. Note: Better than fruit cake!
