CHEESE STRAWS | |
6 slices bacon 1/2 lb. sharp Cheddar cheese 2 to 3 tsp. chopped onion 1 loaf thinly sliced bread 1 c. mayonnaise 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 3/4 c. chopped almonds Salt and pepper to taste Fry and crumble bacon. Grate cheese into medium size bowl. Add bacon, onion, almonds, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Mix well. Trim crusts off bread and cut each slice into 4 strips. Spread mixture on each strip (putting four together first, helps). Place strips on a cookie sheet and freeze 1 hour. Store in plastic bag. When ready, place frozen strip on a cookie sheet and bake 10 minutes at 400 degrees. Serve hot. Makes 72 strips. |
