KENTUCKY BUTTER CAKE 
3 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. sugar
4 eggs, unbeaten
1 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. rum flavoring
1 c. butter

Sift dry ingredients together. Cream well butter and sugar. Blend in unbeaten eggs, one at a time. Beat well after each addition. Combine buttermilk and rum flavoring. Add alternately with dry ingredients. Blend well after each addition. Turn into a tube pan. Bake for 60-70 minutes in a 325 degree oven. Prick with a fork. Pour hot sauce over cake. Cool before removing from pan.

SAUCE:

1 c. sugar
1/4 c. water
1/2 c. butter

Stir until melted over low heat. Remove and add 2 tablespoons rum flavoring.
