CORN BREAD 
1 1/2 c. corn meal
1/2 c. all purpose flour
1/4 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs

Heat oven to 450 degrees. Mix all ingredients; beat for 30 seconds. Pour into greased 9 x 1 1/2 inch round or 8 x 8 x 2 inch square pan. Bake until golden brown 25-30 minutes. Serve warm. 12 servings.
