1/2 lb. butter
1/2 c. sugar
6 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Juice and rind of 1 lemon
1 tsp. anise flavoring
5 c. flour
6 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt

Cream butter, sugar add well beaten eggs and flavorings. Sift flour, baking powder, salt. Blend well together. Cover, refrigerate overnight. Next day take pieces of dough roll into 3 inch rope with fingers. Coil shape into a mound. Bake 350 degrees 5 to 10 minutes on greased cookie sheet. Frost with a butter cream frosting add anise flavoring to frosting.
