HOMEMADE CEREAL 
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 jar (large) wheat germ
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. rolled oats
3/4 c. coconut (optional)
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. raisins (optional)

Dissolve brown sugar in 3 tablespoons water. Boil 1 minute, cool slightly. Add oil and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients, then stir in syrup and toss until cereal is coated. Spread in shallow pans and toast approximately 2 hours in 200 degree oven. Use your imagination. You can mix in slivered almonds or other dried, chopped fruits. Makes over 2 quarts.
