PELLA APPLE BREAD 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
2 c. apples, finely chopped (Granny Smith are best)
1/2 c. nuts, chopped (opt.)

TOPPING:

4 tbsp. butter, softened
4 tbsp. sugar
4 tbsp. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon

Cream sugar and butter. Combine sour milk and soda. Stir into creamed mixture. Add eggs, vanilla and flour. Beat well. Stir in apples and nuts. Put into greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Mix topping ingredients. Drop by bits on batter and press lightly with fork. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes. This freezes well.
