GROCERY SACK CARAMEL CORN | |
1 c. brown sugar 1 stick butter 1/4 c. Karo syrup (light) 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 2 bags microwave popcorn (without butter) or 12 c. popcorn 1 lg. grocery sack 1 can Pam cooking spray If using microwave popcorn in the bag, omit salt. Spray inside of grocery sack with Pam. You do not need to saturate sack with spray. Place popped corn in the sack. Combine caramel ingredients above in large bowl. Cook in the microwave. Cook 1 minute; stir. Cook 1 minute; stir. Cook 1 minute; stir. Cook 30 seconds; stir. IMPORTANT: Be aware that if you microwave is a hot oven (over 600 watts), that you may need to adjust these times or the temperature. For example, my oven cooks very hot, so I decrease the temperature to medium but keep the same times. You may need to experiment with the first try. Next; pour the caramel mixture over the popcorn in the grocery sack. Fold the top down on the sack, place in the microwave. Cook contents 1 1/2 minutes (take the bag out and shake it, the bag, that is). Cook for 1 1/2 minutes (take the bag out and shake). Cook for 45 seconds (take the bag out and shake). Cook for 30 seconds (take the bag out and shake). Please remember that if your oven cooks hot, to adjust these temperatures. For example, I cook the popcorn using these increments, but I change the temperature to medium. Otherwise, the popcorn may be scorched. |
