CORN BREAD 
1 tbsp. sugar
1 cup boiling water
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 cups cornmeal
1 cup buttermilk
3 eggs, well beaten
1 cup white flour
1½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
3 tbsp. oil or melted butter

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Pour boiling water over cornmeal; cool. Add eggs, salt, oil or butter and sugar. Add baking soda to buttermilk; mix in.

Add flour and baking powder. Beat well.

Pour into a greased 9x13 inch pan (or deep dish baker).

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
