MILE HIGH BISCUITS | |
3 c. all purpose flour 2 tbsp. sugar 1 tbsp. plus 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar 3/4 tsp. salt 3/4 c. shortening 1 egg, beaten 3/4 c. milk Combine first 5 ingredients, mixing well. Cut in shortening with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Combine egg and milk, add to flour mixture, stir until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface. Knead 8 to 10 times. Roll out to 1 inch thickness, cut 2 1/2 inches. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 450 degrees for 15 minutes. Makes 15. |
