PINEAPPLE UPSIDE DOWN CAKE | |
TOP: 1/4 c. butter 1/2 c. brown sugar 1 (8 oz.) can pineapple, sliced 7 Maraschino cherries, (optional) 6 pecan halves, (optional) CAKE: 1 1/4 c. flour 1 c. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. milk 1/3 c. shortening 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla Heat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in round layer pan. Sprinkle brown sugar over butter. Arrange pineapple. Place cherries and pecans. Prepare cake. Mix all ingredients and pour over fruit in pan. Bake 35 to 40 minutes. Invert onto a plate and leave pan over cake a few minutes. |
