OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 to 1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. packed brown sugar
1/3 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. sorghum
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. quick cooking rolled oats

Combine flour, salt and soda. In a mixer bowl, beat shortening, brown sugar and sugar until fluffy. Add egg, sorghum and vanilla; beat well. Add dry ingredients to beaten mixture; beat until well combined. Stir in oats.

Drop dough from a teaspoon 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F. 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 60.
