PLUM CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 c. sugar
1 c. flour
2 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
Sm., dark plums

May substitute pitted canned cherries.

Cream butter in a warm bowl. Add 1/2 cup sugar and 1 beaten egg. Mix at medium speed. Add second egg and mix briefly. Sift flour, baking powder and pinch of salt together. Add flour to butter and mix well. Flavor with almond extract.

Spread in buttered 8 x 10 inch pan. Cut plums in half and remove pit. Place plums skin side down in batter close together. Sprinkle with remaining sugar and cinnamon. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes. Makes a good coffee cake.
