3/4 c. salad dressing
3/4 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. cold water
2 tbsp. molasses

Combine salad dressing and sugar. Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder, spices, and salt together. Add alternately with the combined water and molasses. Beat after each addition until smooth.

Pour into a greased 9 inch square pan and bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees) for 30 minutes. Cool and frost with caramel frosting.
