MY FAVORITE BREAD PUDDING | |
4 apples, cored and cut into slices or chunks (may remove peel if you prefer) 1/2 c. yellow raisins (or regular) 4 tbsp. butter 1/2 c. sugar In skillet saute first 4 ingredients together until apples are tender and syrup is lightly caramelized. 6 eggs 3 c. Half and Half 1 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 2 tsp. vanilla Beat eggs until frothy and light in color. Add remaining ingredients. Overlap slices of white bread in 9 x 13 inch cake pan - approximately 6-8 slices of bread. Spread apple-raisin mixture over bread. Pour egg and milk mixture evenly over bread. Set pan in 11 x 14 inch pan and carefully pour hot water in bottom pan almost t brim. Bake in 325 degree oven for approximately 40 minutes or until eggs are set. Serve warm with powdered sugar sprinkled on top. May top with whipped cream, heavy cream or caramel ice cream topping. |
