CHERRY WALNUT BARS 
1 c. butter, softened
2 1/4 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 (2 oz.) jar maraschino cherries, chopped
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
1/2 c. coconut

Mix butter, flour, and sugar until crumbly. Press into greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees until lightly browned. Combine brown sugar, baking powder, salt, vanilla, and eggs. Blend well. Add cherries (reserve juice) and walnuts. Spread over baked crust. Bake another 25 minutes. Cool. Spread thinly with icing. Sprinkle with coconut.

ICING:

1 tbsp. butter, softened
1 c. powdered sugar

Add enough maraschino cherry juice to make icing of spreading consistency. Enjoy!
