CHOCOLATE CREAM PIE | |
1 c. sugar 4 tbsp. cocoa 1/3 c. all-purpose flour 1/4 tsp. salt 2 c. milk 3 slightly beaten egg yolks 1 tsp. vanilla 1 (9 inch) baked pie crust Meringue 2 tbsp. butter In saucepan combine sugar, flour, salt and cocoa. Make sure cocoa is mixed in well. Stir in milk slowly. Cook on slow heat, stirring constantly until it thickens and then add beaten egg yolks into hot mixture and then add butter and vanilla. Cook on medium to slow heat until thick, stirring constantly to keep from sticking. Put in baked pie crust. Top with meringue and bake in hot oven until meringue is brown. MERINGUE: Beat 3 egg whites until stiff and add 1/2 cup sugar to beaten egg whites. Stir well and put on top of pie. |
