CANDY ORANGE SLICE CAKE 
2 sticks butter
4 eggs, one at a time
3 1/2 c. cake flour (use part to dredge fruit)
1/2 lb. orange slices, cut into sm. pieces
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1/2 c. buttermilk
8 oz. pitted dates, cut in pieces
2 c. chopped nuts
1 can angel flake coconut

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Dredge fruits and orange slices and nuts. Add flour alternately with buttermilk and soda to creamed mixture. Fold in remaining ingredients. Bake at 250 degrees for 2 1/2 hours in a tube pan.

TOPPING:

2 c. powdered sugar
1 c. fresh orange juice

Mix all together and pour over cake as soon as you take if from oven. Let stand overnight.
