MOM'S APPLE COBBLER 
1 stick butter
2 c. water
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. chopped apples
2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
1/3 c. milk
1 tsp. cinnamon

Melt butter in baking dish. Heat sugar and water until sugar melts. Cut shortening into flour. Add milk and stir with fork until dough leaves side of bowl. Turn into lightly floured board and knead until smooth. Roll out dough into large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Sprinkle cinnamon over apples. Sprinkle apples over dough. Roll up dough like jelly roll. Dampen edge of dough and seal. Slice dough into about 16 slices, 1/2 inch thick. Place in pan with melted butter. Pour sugar syrup carefully around rolls. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes.

Note: Apples may be substituted by fresh or frozen blueberries and omit the cinnamon.
