AMISH OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. raisins (ground)
1 c. salted peanuts (ground)

Set aside. 3 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 1/2 c. shortening 3 c. sugar 2 c. quick cooking oats

Sift into large bowl or dishpan dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until it forms fine crumbs. Add raisins and nuts, sugar and oatmeal. Mix well, using hand if needed. 1 c. buttermilk 1/2 c. dark molasses 4 eggs (save 1 egg until later)

Dissolve soda in buttermilk in small bowl. Add molasses and 3 eggs. Beat with beater until blended. Add to flour mixture. Mix well with spoon. Drop by heaping tablespoon on greased cookie sheet. Flatten with floured glass.

Beat 1 egg in bowl. Brush tops with egg. Bake at 375 degrees 8-10 minutes or golden brown.
