APPLE SLICES 
CRUST:

2 c. flour
2/3 c. Crisco shortening
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. salt
2 egg yolks
1/4 c. water

4 to 6 tart apples, peeled, cored and sliced

SUGAR MIXTURE:

1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. flour

ICING:

1 c. confectioners sugar
2 tbsp. butter and milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix flour and salt; cut in shortening, as for pie crust. Mix egg yolks, lemon juice, water and sprinkle over flour mixture; blend. (Knead a few times with floured hands). Divide dough in half. Roll first piece (on well floured board) to fit bottom and sides of 7 1/2 by 12" pan. Arrange sliced apples in crust lined pan. Sprinkle sugar mixture over apples. Roll remaining dough to fit top; arrange over filling; seal edges. Cut steam vents and bake 30 to 40 minutes at 400 degrees. While still warm, spread on icing.
