JAM CAKE 
1 c. butter
1 c. white sugar
3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 c. raisins
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. milk
4 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. jam (blackberry)
1 c. chopped apples
1 tsp. cinnamon

Cream butter, sugars, add eggs, one at a time. Add jam. Blend flour and soda and spices (reserve 1/2 cup flour for nuts, apples and raisins). Add flour mixture alternately with milk. Add apples, raisins, nuts (stir in). Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until done in 3 (9") cake pans.

ICING:

2 c. sugar
1 stick butter
2/3 c. evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Slowly bring to boil (to dissolve sugar) and boil for 1 minute. Beat for a long time.
